PLEXUS MA550

Main features

  • 39-42 Minute Work Time
  • 15.4 MPa Aluminum Lap Shear
  • UV-Stable White Structural Bonding

Product Description

Plexus MA550 is a white UV-stable two-part 10:1 methacrylate structural adhesive for thermoplastic, metal and composite assemblies, including marine secondary bonding. At 23.9 deg C, typical work time is 39-42 minutes and the adhesive reaches 50 psi strength in 70-75 minutes. Gap tolerance is 0.75-10 mm. After cure, typical tensile strength is 14.9-16.4 MPa, elongation at break is 20-40%, and aluminum lap-shear strength is 15.4 MPa. The non-sagging gel is intended for structural bonding with little surface preparation on supported substrates.

Key features

  • 39-42 minute work time: Typical work time is 39-42 minutes at 23.9 deg C.
  • UV-stable white structural adhesive: The cured product is positioned for white, UV-stable structural bonding applications.
  • 15.4 MPa aluminum lap shear: Typical aluminum lap-shear strength is 15.4 MPa to ASTM D1002.

Applications

Structural bonding of thermoplastics, metals and composites; secondary bonding in marine assemblies.

Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.
