PERMABOND 941

Main features

  • Low-Odor Visible-Assembly Bonding
  • 10 to 20 mPa s Wicking Flow
  • 10 to 15 Second Handling

Product Description

PERMABOND 941 is a single-component alkoxyethyl cyanoacrylate adhesive for low-odor, low-bloom bonding of visible or cosmetic assemblies. The colorless adhesive has a typical viscosity of 10 to 20 mPa s at 25 deg C and a maximum gap fill of 0.08 mm. Typical handling time is 10 to 15 seconds on steel, aluminum, ABS, PVC and phenolic resin, with full strength after 24 hours. Cured steel lap-shear strength is typically 16 to 20 N/mm^2 under ISO 4587. It is used for bonding plastics, metals and elastomers where reduced fogging around the bondline is desired.

Key features

  • Low-Odor, Low-Bloom Formula: Alkoxyethyl cyanoacrylate chemistry is formulated for reduced odor and reduced fogging around visible bondlines.
  • Thin-Bondline Viscosity: Typical viscosity is 10 to 20 mPa s at 25 deg C with a maximum gap fill of 0.08 mm.
  • Rapid Handling: Typical fixture time is 10 to 15 seconds on steel, aluminum, ABS, PVC and phenolic resin.

Applications

Bonding plastics, metals and elastomers where low odor and reduced blooming or fogging are desired.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
