PERMABOND 791

Main features

  • Ultra-Fast 2-3 Second Fixture
  • Surface-Insensitive Porous Surface Bonding
  • Reduced Frosting and Fogging

Product Description

PERMABOND 791 is a low-viscosity, surface-insensitive ethyl cyanoacrylate adhesive for very fast bonding of difficult, acidic, or porous surfaces. It is particularly suited to wood and plated surfaces while also bonding plastics, metals, ceramics, and elastomers. Typical viscosity is 15 to 50 mPa s at 25 deg C with a maximum gap fill of 0.1 mm. Steel, Buna N rubber, and phenolic can reach fixture strength in 2 to 3 seconds. The rapid cure also minimizes frosting and fogging, making the grade useful where both speed and a cleaner visible bond area matter.

Key features

  • 2-3 Second Fixture: Steel, Buna N rubber, and phenolic typically reach fixture strength in 2 to 3 seconds.
  • Surface-Insensitive Bonding: The adhesive rapidly bonds acidic and porous surfaces such as wood and plated substrates.
  • Reduced Frosting and Fogging: The fast cure minimizes frosting and fogging around the bonded area.

Applications

Bonding wood, porous or acidic surfaces, plated surfaces, plastics, metals, ceramics, and elastomers.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
