Main features

  • 425 cP Application Viscosity
  • At Most 0.100 ohms/sq/mil Cured Resistivity
  • 2- to 3-Second Solder Wetting

Product Description

LORD 2232 Silver Conductive Coating is a silver-bearing thermoplastic conductive coating designed primarily as an electrode solder base for tantalum capacitor terminations. It can be applied by dip or brush and has a typical viscosity of 425 cP at 25 deg C. Typical settling rate is at most 2 mm/hr. After drying at 80 deg C for 10 minutes and curing at 125 deg C for 15 minutes, typical resistivity is at most 0.100 ohms/sq/mil. Typical solder wetting is 2 to 3 seconds with 62Sn/36Pb/2Ag solder at 200 deg C.

Key features

  • Application Rheology: Typical viscosity is 425 cP at 25 deg C using a Brookfield LVT, spindle 2 at 60 rpm.
  • Electrical Conductivity: Typical cured resistivity is at most 0.100 ohms/sq/mil after drying at 80 deg C for 10 minutes and curing at 125 deg C for 15 minutes.
  • Solderability: Typical solder wetting is 2 to 3 seconds with 62Sn/36Pb/2Ag solder at 200 deg C.

Applications

Tantalum capacitor electrode terminations, printed circuit board repair, and electromagnetic shielding applications.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application

Thermal Properties
Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.
