LOCTITE UR 8543RD

Main features

  • 22-Minute Open-Time Lamination
  • No-Mix Bead or Trowel Application
  • Untreated Aluminum Frame Adhesion

Product Description

LOCTITE UR 8543RD is a one-component, solvent-free liquid polyurethane adhesive for structural lamination of sandwich panel assemblies. It cures with moisture and has a typical viscosity of 5,500 mPa s at 25 deg C. The adhesive is used with wood, lauan, fiberboard, particle board, plywood, FRP, EPS foam, PU foam, and primed metals, with excellent adhesion to untreated aluminum frame surfaces. Typical applications include RV, motor home, and trailer panel lamination. Because cure depends on moisture access, at least one substrate must be porous or perforated.

Key features

  • 22-minute assembly window: At 24 deg C, typical open time is 22 minutes and typical press time is 46 minutes.
  • Single-component handling: No mixing is required before bead extrusion or manual trowel application.
  • Durable thermoset cure: Moisture cure forms a tough, strong polymer with excellent chemical and environmental resistance.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
