LOCTITE PC7228

Main features

  • 5-Hour 25 deg C Cure
  • 24 N/mm^2 Steel Lap Shear
  • High-Gloss Low-Friction Coating

Product Description

LOCTITE PC 7228 is an ultra-smooth, ceramic-reinforced two-component epoxy coating for protecting industrial equipment from corrosion, wear, turbulence, and abrasion. Resin and hardener mix at 2.8:1 by volume or 4.5:1 by weight and cure at room temperature. Typical mixed data at 25 deg C include 17,000 mPa s cone-and-plate viscosity at a 10 s^-1 shear rate and coverage of 1.1 m^2 at 0.5 mm thickness per kilogram. Typical cure time is 5 hours at 25 deg C. Typical cured coating properties include Shore D 85 hardness and 86 N/mm^2 compressive strength. After 24 hours at 25 deg C, typical lap shear strength on grit-blasted steel is 24 N/mm^2 by ISO 4587. Typical dry service temperature is -29 to 93 deg C.

Key features

  • 2.8:1 Volume Mixing: The resin-to-hardener ratio is 2.8:1 by volume and 4.5:1 by weight.
  • 5-Hour Cure at 25 deg C: Typical cure time is 5 hours at 25 deg C; typical gel time is 34 to 48 minutes for a 400 g mass.
  • 24 N/mm^2 Steel Lap Shear: After 24 hours at 25 deg C, typical lap shear strength is 24 N/mm^2 on grit-blasted steel by ISO 4587.

Applications

Industrial equipment surfaces requiring abrasion and corrosion protection, including heat exchangers, tanks, chutes, valves, and pump components.
