LOCTITE AA 3971

Main features

  • Post-Assembly Needle-Well Dispensing
  • Dual-Wavelength Five-Second Fixture
  • Black-Light Assembly Inspection

Product Description

LOCTITE AA 3971 is a one-part, low-viscosity UV/visible-light-curing acrylic adhesive developed for cannula, hub, syringe, lancet, and needle-device assembly. Its 315 mPa s viscosity at 25 deg C is suited to dispensing into the hub well after the cannula and hub are assembled. On glass, fixture is achieved in 5 seconds with 365 nm or 405 nm LED light at 100 mW/cm^2. The adhesive fluoresces under black light to support bondline-presence inspection. Typical cured tensile strength is 26 N/mm^2 after 30 seconds per side at 100 mW/cm^2 and 365 nm using an electrodeless D bulb. Typical polycarbonate block shear is 22 N/mm^2 after 30 seconds at 100 mW/cm^2 and 365 nm. Final performance depends on cure dose, substrate, and joint geometry.

Key features

  • Post-assembly well dispensing: Low viscosity supports dispensing into the well after cannula and hub assembly.
  • Dual-wavelength fast fixture: Fixture is 5 seconds on glass at 100 mW/cm^2 measured at either 365 nm or 405 nm.
  • Black-light assembly inspection: Black-light fluorescence facilitates inspection of bonded assemblies for adhesive presence.

Applications

Bonding cannulae into hubs and assembling syringes, lancets and needle devices.
