LOCTITE 603

Main features

  • Low-Viscosity Cylindrical Component Retaining
  • High-Strength Steel Component Retention
  • Shock-and-Vibration Assembly Retention

Product Description

LOCTITE 603 is a one-component, low-viscosity urethane methacrylate retaining compound for close-fitting cylindrical metal assemblies. Its anaerobic cure develops when confined without air between mating metal surfaces, making it suited to retaining bearings and bushings in housings where consistently clean surfaces cannot always be assured. After 24 hours at 22 deg C, compressive shear strength on steel pins and collars is at least 22.5 N/mm^2 under ISO 10123. The cured compound also prevents loosening and leakage caused by shock and vibration.

Key features

  • Low-viscosity retention: One-component liquid for close-fitting cylindrical metal interfaces.
  • Anaerobic metal cure: Cures when confined without air between close-fitting metal surfaces.
  • Steel compressive shear strength: At least 22.5 N/mm^2 compressive shear after 24 hours at 22 deg C on steel pins and collars under ISO 10123.

Applications

Retaining cylindrical assemblies such as bearings, bushings and shafts.

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
