EPOXYLITE E477

Main features

  • Single-Component VPI Processing
  • 5-Hour Cure at 160 deg C
  • 2,600 Volts/Mil Dielectric Strength

Product Description

EPOXYLITE E477 is a single-component, heat-cured epoxy resin for vacuum-pressure impregnation and vacuum impregnation of dry-taped, form-wound coils. It is used for Class 130, Class 155, and Class 180 electrical-insulation processing. Typical as-supplied viscosity is 1,000 to 2,500 cP at 25 deg C, and no added catalyst is required. VPI-treated units normally cure for five hours at 160 deg C; for 13.8 kV service, cure at 180 deg C is required. Typical cured properties include Shore D hardness, coil-bond strength, dielectric strength, and volume resistivity.

Key features

  • Single-Component VPI Processing: The heat-cured epoxy requires no added catalyst for vacuum-pressure impregnation.
  • VPI Cure Schedule: VPI-treated units normally cure for five hours at 160 deg C.
  • 2,600 Volts/Mil Dielectric Strength: Typical cured volume resistivity is above 1 x 10^16 ohm-cm.

Applications

Vacuum-pressure impregnation and vacuum impregnation of dry-taped, form-wound coils; electrical-insulation processing.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
1000 - 2500 mPa.s
Thermal Properties
Flash Point
The flashpoint of a solvent is the lowest possible temperature at which it can vaporize to form an ignitable vapor. Flashpoint is often confused with “autoignition temperature”, which is the temperature at which a solvent ignites without an ignition source.
> 94 °C
