EPOCAST 1629

Main features

  • 0.48 g/cc Mixed Density
  • Slump-Resistant Soft Paste
  • Sandable Machinable Cured Finish

Product Description

EPOCAST 1629 A/B is a two-component, ultra-low-density epoxy syntactic for reinforcing and filling honeycomb edges in lightweight aerospace structures. White Part A resin and peach Part B hardener mix at 100:50 by weight to create a light-tan paste with typical density of 0.48 g/cc. A 75 g mass typically gels in 70 minutes at 25 deg C. The formulation resists slumping on vertical surfaces and can be extruded or spread with a putty knife. After cure, it sands and machines readily. Cured properties include flame-retardant, self-extinguishing behavior and typical compressive and aluminum lap-shear performance.

Key features

  • Ultra-Low Mixed Density: Typical mixed density is 0.48 g/cc by ASTM D1622 for the light-tan system.
  • Slump-Resistant Vertical Handling: The soft paste is suitable for extrusion or putty-knife spreading on vertical surfaces.
  • Sandable and Machinable Cure: The cured syntactic sands and machines readily.

Applications

Honeycomb edge reinforcement and filling in lightweight aerospace structures.
