DOWSIL SE 9160

Main features

  • One-Part UV Cure With Secondary Moisture Cure
  • Good Through (In-Depth) Curing in High UV Energy Density
  • Faster In-Line Processing Through UV Curing

Product Description

DOWSIL™ SE 9160 Adhesive is a one-part, bluish silicone adhesive formulated with hybrid curing technology that combines UV curing with secondary moisture curing. Designed for PCB and display module assembly applications, it provides water- and dust-resistant sealing while supporting efficient manufacturing through rapid UV curing and continued moisture cure in shadowed or inaccessible areas. The adhesive offers controlled flow for dispensing, low cure shrinkage, reparability for rework operations, and elastomeric properties that help accommodate vibration and impact stresses. It is suitable for sealing air gaps and openings in mobile devices, tablet assemblies, display modules, and other small-to-medium electronic assemblies.

Key features

  • Hybrid UV and moisture curing: UV cure enables rapid handling while secondary moisture cure supports curing in shadowed or in-depth areas.
  • Reparable formulation: Allows removal and rework of repaired assemblies, helping reduce scrap and maintenance costs.
  • Low-shrinkage elastic seal: Provides stable sealing performance with resistance to vibration and mechanical impact.

Applications / Suitable for

  • PCB system assemblies
  • Mobile device module assembly
  • Display module assembly
  • Sealing air gaps between LCD/OLED panels and cover frames
  • Water- and contaminant-resistant sealing applications
  • Reparable gasket and masking tape replacement sealing applications

Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Physical Properties
Viscosity
Viscosity is a measurement of a fluid’s resistance to flow. Viscosity is commonly measured in centiPoise (cP). One cP is defined as the viscosity of water and all other viscosities are derived from this base. MPa is another common unit with a 1:1 conversion to cP. A product like honey would have a much higher viscosity -around 10,000 cPs- compared to water. As a result, honey would flow much slower out of a tipped glass than water would. The viscosity of a material can be decreased with an increase in temperature in order to better suit an application
