BOSTIK STR220A

Main features

  • Elastic SMP Joint Bonding
  • 30-Minute Skin Formation
  • Excellent UV and Weather Resistance

Product Description

Bostik STR220A is a one-component silyl modified polymer (SMP) adhesive/sealant for elastic bonding and joint sealing in transportation assemblies. It moisture cures; at 20 deg C and 50% RH, skin formation is about 30 minutes and cure development is about 2 mm after 24 hours. After cure, the material measures Shore A 44, reaches 220% elongation at break, and has a -40 to 121 deg C temperature-resistance range. STR220A adheres to metals, glass, PVC, polyester, and coated wood with defined surface-preparation requirements. Applications include buses, RVs, trailers, and related transportation joints and seams.

Key features

  • Elastic SMP Joints: One-component SMP material is used for bonding and sealing elastic joints and seams.
  • 30-Minute Skin Formation: Skin forming time is about 30 minutes at 20 deg C and 50% RH.
  • UV and Weather Resistance: Cured UV and weather resistance is rated Excellent.

Applications

Bonding and sealing joints in buses, RVs, trailers, and related transportation assemblies.

Technical Specifications

General Properties
Specific Gravity
Specific gravity (SG) is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. For liquids, the reference substance is almost always water (1), while for gases, it is air (1.18) at room temperature. Specific gravity is unitless.

Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.

Thermal Properties
Temperature Resistance
Temperature resistance is the maximum temperature that the material or product can withstand for a period of time. The temperatures listed should be considered as guidelines for an operating temperature of about 30 minutes. Typically, the material can withstand much longer times at temperatures about 20°C lower and can withstand much higher temperatures for short, intermittent times.
