Main features

  • Less Than 150 V Unwind Charge
  • -73 to 260 deg C Use Range
  • 22 N/100 mm Steel Adhesion

Product Description

3M Low Static Polyimide Film Tape 5419 is a low-static polyimide film tape with silicone adhesive for wave-solder and solder-dip masking of printed circuit boards. Typical total thickness is 2.7 mil, including a 1.0 mil polyimide backing, and the temperature-use range is -73 to 260 deg C. In an ESD-controlled environment at 21 deg C and 50% relative humidity, typical charge is less than 150 V on removal from the roll and less than 50 V on removal from a printed wiring board. Typical adhesion to steel is 22 N/100 mm by ASTM D3330.

Key features

  • Low charge during removal: At 21 deg C and 50% RH in an ESD-controlled environment, typical charge is less than 150 V from the roll and less than 50 V from a printed wiring board.
  • Polyimide masking construction: Typical total thickness is 2.7 mil, including a 1.0 mil polyimide backing; the tape has a -73 to 260 deg C temperature-use range.
  • 22 N/100 mm steel adhesion: This typical adhesion result is measured on steel by ASTM D3330.

Applications

Wave-solder and solder-dip masking of printed circuit boards; release-surface use during elevated-temperature part fabrication.

Total Thickness
Total thickness is taking into account all the films, coatings, adhesives, release liners and special layers and is the maximum thickness of a film or tape.
70 μm
Mechanical Properties
Elongation
Elongation is the process of lengthening something. It is a percentage that measures the initial, unstressed, length compared to the length of the material right before it breaks. It is commonly referred to as Ultimate Elongation or Tensile Elongation at break.
60 %
Tensile Strength (Thin Film)
Tensile strength determines the resistance of a material to break under tension and it measures how much elongating load (or tensile stress) it can handle before fracture. To make it simple, it measures how much force we have to apply when pulling apart a material before it breaks.
