3M 100

Main features

  • Short-Term Exposure to 232 deg C
  • Metal and High-Surface-Energy Plastic Adhesion
  • Low-Outgassing Tape Construction

Product Description

3M High Temperature Acrylic Adhesive 100 is a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive system used in transfer tapes for bonding metals and high-surface-energy plastics. It combines solvent resistance with shear resistance at elevated temperatures. In transfer-tape constructions, short-term temperature resistance extends to 232 deg C for minutes or hours, while longer exposures can reach 149 deg C for days or weeks. The adhesive system has low outgassing and low levels of leachable chlorides. Transfer-tape constructions pair it with different adhesive thicknesses and release liners for electronics, aerospace, and die-cutting applications.

Key features

  • Short- and long-term heat exposure: Adhesive 100 supports temperatures up to 232 deg C for minutes or hours and up to 149 deg C for days or weeks in transfer-tape constructions.
  • Pressure-sensitive acrylic bonding: The adhesive bonds metals and high-surface-energy plastics in transfer-tape constructions.
  • Low-outgassing adhesive system: Transfer-tape constructions combine low outgassing with low levels of leachable chlorides.

Electrical Properties
Dielectric Strength
Dielectric strength is measured in kV per mm and is calculated by the Breakdown voltage divided by the thickness of the tested material. Those two properties go hand in hand and while Breakdown voltage is always thickness dependent, dielectric strength is a general material property. As an example, the dielectric strength of Polyimide is 236 kV/mm. If we place 1mm of Polyimide between two electrodes, it will act as an insulator until the voltage between the electrodes reaches 236 kV. At this point it will start acting as a good conductor, causing sparks, potential punctures and current flow.
43.3 kV/mm
Volume Resistivity
Volume resistivity, also called volume resistance, bulk resistance or bulk resistivity is a thickness dependent measurement of the resistivity of a material perpendicular to the plane of the surface.
4.0 x 10¹⁵ Ohms⋅cm
Thermal Properties
Thermal Conductivity
Thermal conductivity describes the ability of a material to conduct heat. It is required by power packages in order to dissipate heat and maintain stable electrical performance. Thermal conductivity units are [W/(m K)] in the SI system and [Btu/(hr ft °F)] in the Imperial system.
0.178 W/m.K
